February 5, 2024 (Providence, RI) - Heading into Sunday looking to extend their winning streak after a quick turnaround from their game in Bridgeport, the Pirates offensively struggled to begin the game. The Mass Wolves had all the momentum and pressured the Pirates through the first half. After the first quarter, the Pirates held a narrow lead 30-28.

The second quarter was all Mass Wolves. The Wolves went ahead and took the lead at halftime 56-49. The Pirates were unable to string anything together allowing the Wolves to take the lead.

After the half, the Pirates were noticeably more energized on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The first half had many 3pt misses and poor defensive possessions. The energy shift was felt as the Pirates closed the gap on the Wolves and cut the lead down to 3 with the score being 92-89 after 3 quarters of play while playing much better on both sides of the ball.

The whole second half was competitive and both teams were making tough shots and great defensive plays.

With 5:54 remaining in the 4th quarter, the Pirates took their first lead since the end of the first quarter with a great defensive block by Igor Almedia and the score by Luis Agrait. The shift in energy was monumental as the Pirates started to extend their lead.

Ultimately, the Pirates prevailed by the score 125 to 114 and extended their winning streak to 11 straight! Tom Garrick Jr’s play was felt on both sides of the ball as the Pirates led the charge in a back and forth game. Garrick had a massive chase-down block late in the 4th quarter to preserve the Pirates lead. Garrick Jr was named the Pirates Player of the Game versus the Mass Wolves!
