December 18, 2023 (Providence, RI) - The #9 ranked Providence Pirates have been on a roll during the first half of the ABA season. The team is averaging 103 PPG over their first 9 games which has included their current 6 game winning streak.

The Pirates took on two divisional opponents (NH Kingz and Bennington Martens) this weekend looking to continue their winning ways in a big way.
Fresh off their 38 point victory Saturday night, The Pirates traveled up to Bennington Vermont short handed once again. Going into the game versus the Martens, the Pirates knew it was going to be a tough matchup but they know that they could rely on their defense to make stops to help defeat the Martens. The Pirates pulled out the 84-75 victory in Vermont on Sunday afternoon.

This matchup was a defensive battle between the two team right from tip-off. The Pirates allowed and also scored season lows but managed to put a big fourth quarter together behind Kevin Briggs’ clutch shooting. Briggs made several consecutive buckets and blocks to start Pirates run with 8 mins to go in the fourth, as Pirates were down 8 points at the time. Briggs would then be named the Player of the Game for the 3rd time this season.

Avery DeBrito and Armani Baker also helped offensively and defensively lead the Pirates to victory over the Martens. Baker and DeBrito had 34 points as well as multiple defensive stops when it counted most.
