Pirates Conclude Season In 119-113 Playoff Loss

The number 3 seed Providence Pirates hosted the number 6 Herkimer Originals in their first ever playoff game. The Pirates turned out a great crowd but unfortunately ultimately lost to the Originals. It was a great hard fought game that shows Pirates fans the potential of this team as they now look ahead to their second season next year.

What Happened -

The Pirates fought hard all game against the tall and talented Originals. Center Kevin Briggs had a busy day battling the other team's big men and finished with 26 points, 19 rebounds, and five blocks. Briggs also walked away with the season's final Player of the Game honor. Shane DaRosa had his game going as well, raining down three pointers all game long. DaRosa logged 27 points and 10 assists. In the fourth quarter, the Pirates began to get cold and lose their offensive flow. Guard Mikey Rodriguez shot off the bench like a bolt of lightning and gave the Pirates the energy and scoring necessary to keep the game close. Rodriguez finished with 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

Pirates Nation showed up for this monumental matchup and did not disappoint. The gym was packed from wall to wall as the Pirates fought hard to keep their season alive. Pirates fans did not miss their chance to bring the playoff atmosphere to Providence. While this was Providence's first playoff game, this will certainly not be the last!

Turning Point - 
 
The turning point of this game was at the end of the third quarter when Herkimer became red hot from deep and ran out to a double digit lead. The Pirates answered, but the energy Herkimer created was enough for the to gith there way to a narrow six point win to advance to the Northeast Region's Final Four.
